The new Andalucian law regulating taxis comes into effect today, Friday, which prevents pensioners, retirees, widows and widowers from owning the licensed vehicle. This means that in Málaga, there will suddenly be one hundred fewer taxis on the roads.
The new rule came into effect at midnight and leaves a large number of employees out of work.
The law prevents the circulation of taxis where the driver is not the actual license holder. The retired/retiring owners have five months in which to sell their licenses and in the meantime, their employees will be out of work.
