As part of the ongoing fight against illegal gambling, police attached to the Junta de Andalucia have raided an illegal gambling and poker den in Vélez-Málaga.
Police became aware of the gambling, being held in a bar in Vélez-Málaga, when sms messages were sent out to players notifying them of upcoming games.
During the raid, police seized 3,450 chips, four tables, nine cases containing poker paraphernalia, two televisions and €200 in cash. Around thirty players had gathered for a poker game with stakes of around €50 and a buy-in of €10.
The Junta de Andalucia is conducting a campaign against illegal gambling as it involves tax fraud, the carrying out of activities without a licence and is illegal competition for the licensed casinos.
