The telemarketing and customer service company SITEL in Sevilla has announced an ERTE (Temporary Regulation of Employment) affecting 142 staff, a move seen by the UGT union as a means of ‘buying time’ in order to transfer operations to Colombia.
Those mainly affected by the ERTE, 85% of them women, are those people currently dealing with a customer campaign run by the electricity company Endesa, a contract which expires on December 31st 2013.
The consultation period for negotiations to resolve the ERTE ends on June 28th 2013. The company is already diverting most of its calls to Colombia.
