Maro beach came out on top in the first phase of voting in the Antena 3 competition to choose the ‘best beach’ in Spain.
Throughout June, votes were collected via Twitter and the Antena 3 website to choose the best beaches in Andalucia, of which there were ten nominations, including Maro. In July, voting on these ten will continue in order to find a single winner and then, in August, the third and final stage begins to choose the best beach in the whole of Spain.
Last year’s winner was La Granadella beach in Jávea, Alicante.
The ten beaches vying for top spot in Andalucia are: Maro (Nerja), Bolonia (Cádiz), Los Muertos (Carboneras, Almeria), Fuengirola, Punta Umbria (Huelva), Monsul (Almeria), Zahara de los Atunes (Cádiz), El Cañuelo (Tarifa, Cádiz), Salobreña (Granada) and Rota (Cádiz).
