Cafeteria Jamaica on avenida Mediterraneo, Nerja, opposite the RIU Monica Hotel, is, and always has been, a popular place for breakfasts, snacks and meals. It is popular with both residents and visitors to the town.
It is spacious, has a good sized terrace and, for the ever-increasing number of people who don’t seem to be able to have a meal without being glued to their phones or tablets almost the whole time, free WiFi.
I had Brocheta a la Pimienta con verduras y arroz – skewer of meat in a pepper sauce with vegetables and rice. The meat was not actually on a skewer, but apart from that it was exactly as listed on the menu.
It was a good sized portion, the pepper sauce was excellent and it was well presented. The service was very good, the atmosphere was good and the price was very reasonable at €9.95.
My only negative point, and that was not really the fault of the restaurant, was the number of street sellers allowed to wander from table to table – TEN during the meal (see A little moan…) – and maybe restaurants should consider at least limiting the numbers of such individuals.

Sorry, I had to laugh at your comment about ‘people who don’t seem to be able to have a meal without being glued to their phones or tablets’
In your next article ‘mini tapas run’ one of your photos showed two phones being used at the table by your chums, and the photo must have been taken by a third !!!
Don’t worry, I’m guilty too…..
