The Councillor for Beaches, Nieves Atencia, reports that environmental associations are participating in an awareness campaign organised by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Environment, the aim being to introduce people to the beaches of the Paraje Natural de Maro Cerro-Gordo and the beaches of Maro and the importance of conservation.
The Ministry has made kayaks and scuba gear available for bathers and these can be used for free at Marina del Este on July 13th and on Maro beach on July 14th.
The activities are part of a programme using funds from the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) and are aimed at promoting the sustainable management of natural resources, image improvement and the development of new economic activities.
