There are a few wild parakeets in the trees on the Balcón de Europa at the moment, squawking away like mad. There are usually two, sometimes more, police officers almost permanently stationed on the Balcón de Europa these days, presumably until the end of the summer.
The only entertainers that seem to be permitted at the moment are a couple of the regular accordion players with their endless renditions of ‘When the Saints’ and other ‘classics’. The Balcón used to be such a vibrant area with a great variety of performers. Not always good, granted, but it was varied.
Buskers in Fuengirola now have to go through auditions before getting a temporary licence and only seven are allowed in total! And only two mime artists are permitted. No more spontaneous performances by travelling musicians.
In Nerja, at least we still have hundreds of people trying to flog us dodgy sunglasses at every opportunity. Stopped for a quick coffee at Mirasol, Plaza de los Cangrejos, and had four of them coming to the table. I suppose it beats TEN during a meal the other evening!
