Chispa’s (calle Bolivia), La Puntilla (calle Bolivia) and Rincón del Sabor (calle Ruperto Anduez), a veritable ‘golden triangle’ of tapas bars in the old part of town and always worth a visit.
Both Chispa’s and La Puntilla specialise in fish dishes but also have a good range of meaty tapas. Very hustle-bustle, great atmosphere and the bar staff are always lively and animated.
I had gambas pil pil at Chispa’s and it was pretty good. I followed that with more gambas at La Puntilla and a potato concoction at Rincón del Sabor. We also sampled chorizo, spaghetti, pinchitos, meatballs and fried quail’s egg.
For a small tapas run you could hardly do better with a round of six drinks, including the more expensive soft drinks, coming in at less than €10. Always found it odd that soft drinks are generally a lot more expensive than beer or wine.
