Local Police in Mijas arrested a 39-year-old Rumanian national who tried to set fire to the building in which he had been staying for a few days.
Police were called to a disturbance in the building and found the man, suitcase in hand, leaving an apartment.
It would appear that one of the tenants had allowed the man to stay a few days in his apartment but, after a number of problems, had asked him to leave. The man explained to the police that he had lost his papers and had nowhere to stay, but instead of trying to solicit their sympathy, began behaving aggressively and then tried to set fire to the building.
The police put out the small fire and arrested the man for public order offences, threats to the homeowners and disregard for law enforcement.
