A fire in Almorox, Toledo, which started on Tuesday continues to burn out of control and has so far destroyed 1,300 hectares of pasture land.
The fire is on two fronts, one in the west and one in the northeast, the latter threatening the Community of Madrid.
Most people who were initially evacuated from their homes have now returned except for the residents of the village of El Pinar.
There are 322 personnel working to control the fire with support from heavy machinery and 14 aircraft. The wind direction is due to change shortly and this is causing concern on the northeastern front. Several roads in the area have been closed including the N-403 Toledo-Ávila, Almorox-Cenicientos, Paredes-Cenicientos and Almorox-Paredes district roads.
The cause of the blaze is thought to be sparks from one of the machines being used to clean the roadsides.
