A 34-year-old man has been arrested in Gijón, Asturias, who obtained online copies of identity documents and then proceeded to request small loans from various banks.
The man set up bank accounts using the stolen identities and then requested small loans. Once the loans were granted, he transferred the monies to his own accounts. The man obtained the data from the computers of his victims, mainly through P2P networks which allow users open access.
There are at least 72 victims throughout Spain. The man has been charged with 67 counts of forgery and counterfeiting and 6 counts of identity theft.
