There is now a new car parking area close to the start of the popular rio Chillar ‘Los Cahorros’ walk. The car park, with space for 63 vehicles, is located on the site of the old Holcim cement factory near the entrance to the former quarry area.
The popularity of the walk and the abundance of vehicles parking in the actual riverbed led the Council to open up a parking area in calle Mirto for visitors to the area and the banning of parking along the rio Chillar. However, this car park was a couple of kilometres away and there was no shade available on the trek down to the river.
The new car park should make things a lot easier. It will be monitored by the association AFADINE, a local organisation dedicated to the care of the disabled and their families.
