Parking in Nerja in the summer months can range from being difficult to a nightmare, especially for those seeking a low cost or free option. A few years ago all the free parking areas were closed off, but now three areas are set to reopen due to an agreement reached between the Council and the plot owners.
The parking areas are in avenida Mediterraneo, calle Chaparil and calle Almirante Carranza.
Following the reaching of an agreement, the plot owners will begin marking out the areas and making suitable entrances.
These car parks will have a capacity for 200 vehicles and should be ready this week. The Council is hoping that they will help alleviate some of the regular summer congestion.
Tony Slade says:
In a statement of the bloomin’ obvious, why wasn’t this done before the summer season started?
The Captain says:
That would have been sensible and require forethought, so out of the question. After all, the congestion probably came as a complete surprise….as it does every year. And probably no money in it before.
