The fire around the town of Andratx on the island of Mallorca is now stabilised, four days after it began. One man has been arrested and three others have been charged for starting the fire which has destroyed 1,800 hectares of land in the Sierra de la Tramuntana.
The fire is thought to have started when a group of people were having a barbecue on a farm in Son Curt, Andratx, and tipped the embers on the ground thinking they were totally extinguished.
One man, 43-year-old I.G., has been arrested on suspicion of causing the fire and three other people who attended the barbecue have been charged. The accused will be appearing in court shortly.
