A police raid on a warehouse on the Guadalhorce industrial estate in Málaga has led to the dismantling of a sweatshop dedicated to the forging of football kits, most notablyy those of Málaga, Barcelona and Real Madrid.
During an inspection of the warehouse, police found boxes of completed kits as well as items in the various stages of production. There were advertising logos, shields and other items all ready to be ironed on to the shirts.
The shirts were then sold on for €5.30.
A businessman of Chinese nationality was arrested for alleged crimes against industrial property. In his defence he apparently replied, ‘everybody does it’.
