A man who drove three kilometres in the wrong direction down the A-7 in Marbella at 04:00 ended up hitting a taxi and an SUV, injuring a total of seven people. The driver registered three times then legal alcohol limit.
The driver, a Spanish national aged thirty years, joined the motorway at km 182 and then proceeded to drive three kilometres in the wrong direction. He hit a taxi carrying four young people and then hit an SUV being driven by a woman. Everyone involved in the incident was injured although fortunately none of the injuries were serious.
The offending driver was breathalysed and registered o.80 mg of alcohol per litre of exhaled air., which is over three times the permitted level. For most drivers the limit is 0.25 mgs.
He was charged with two crimes against road safety, reckless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.
