Thieves broke into the San Miguel church in Villanueva, Córdoba and stole jewels belonging to the Virgen de Luna, patron saint of Villanova and Pozoblanco.
The theft took place during the feria de San Miguel, on or about August 1st, but was not immediately noticed. The economic value of the jewels is around €18,000, although the sentimental value is much greater as they were gifts from devotees.
