A total of 59 migrants aboard 9 small boats have so far been intercepted this morning in the Strait of Gibraltar.
The Maritime Rescue vessels Salvamar Atria, Salvamar Gadir and Salvamar Alkaid and a helicopter have been kept busy in the early hours of Saturday morning, so far intercepting nine vessels, one of which capsized.
The passengers include women, one pregnant, and at least one minor. One known minor was airlifted to the Punta Europa in Algeciras after he was found to be suffering severe hypothermia.
Maritime Rescue vessels are continuing to search the area for more craft.
