The Blas Infante Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the legacy of the man considered to be the ‘Father of Andalucian Autonomy’, last night commemorated the 77th anniversary of his execution.
A wreath was laid at the Cortijo de la Gota in Leche, Sevilla, on the exact spot where he was summarily executed by the forces of General Franco at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War.
However, the Foundation may have to close down. Blas Infante’s daughter and president of the Foundation, María Angeles Infante, reports that since 2011 they have not received even a single euro of the subsidies that legally belong to this non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the legacy of the man who inspired autonomy.
María Angeles Infante is calling upon the Junta de Andalucia to honour its commitments and pay its debts in order to prevent the disappearance of the Foundation.
