Tucked away in the corner of the Plaza Balcón de Europa in the centre of Nerja is Julie’s Place, a small cafe-bar which opened a couple of months ago. It is run by Oscar, a Cuban, and his wife Julie and offers, amongst other things, quite a wide variety of veggie dishes and tapas.
Oscar, bubbly and keen to please, takes care of the front of the house while Julie rules in the kitchen, the combination making for an excellent, friendly atmosphere from the moment you arrive. Cuban music, Salsa in particular, fills the air and the whole place has a very relaxed feel to it.
There are often questions coming in about vegetarian eateries and while most places do have the odd veggie dish on the menu for the non-carnivores, none have the variety to be found here.
I just had a quick Mojito withn a cheese tapas on this occasion but will definitely be back for more. Julie’s Place opens at 18:00 each day except for Tuesday which is their day off. Mojito €3.90 by the way.
