Police are studying CCTV footage which shows the killing of 43-year-old Dutch national Frederik H.S. in front of his wife and two children in Marbella.
The shooting took place on Tuesday. The victim arrived at his home in urbanisation Lomas de Sierra Blanca in an Audi A4. His wife and two children were passengers in the car.
Two individuals were waiting in a dark coloured sports car and one of them got out of the vehicle, walked over to the Audi A4 and fired fourteen shots, most of them hitting Frederik H.S. The fact that the wife, sitting in the passenger seat, and children, sitting in the back of the car, were left totally unharmed suggests a professional hit.
In Marbella, Frederik H.S. appears to have led an ordinary life and was the owner of a furniture store. However, it is reported that in the Netherlands he had a history of narcotics trafficking.
Two men, possible of North African origin, are currently being sought in connection with the killing.
