Not a successful day for a change as I decided to continue on the Mojito trail. Someone said that Papagayo on Calahonda beach did a pretty good one so I suddenly decided a nice relaxing lunchtime salad washed down with a refreshing Mojito sounded like a good idea. Wrong. No Mojitos before 18:30. Ah well, on to MarBella to try a tapa.
MarBella, on Plaza Cavana, is the new incarnation of Casa Luque. Nice enough place, good terrace, but with tapas at €1.50 (and nothing special) and a small beer at €1.80, a bit pricey at €3.30 for what it was.
In addition, I decided to sit at the bar inside so I coold get a good look around. It would have been nice if the debris from the previous clients had been moved from the counter at some stage, but it wasn’t to be and it was still there when I left.
I spent most of the time watching in fascination as these tiny bugs scurried back and forth across the counter. Kept me occupied (I even videoed them), but hardly what you want and it does, for some reason, make you start itching. A totally underwhelming experience I’m afraid.
Pete says:
I had pretty much the same experience when I visited in July. I think they had just opened? The lady outside gave me a voucher for a free drink so not all was lost. Is an OK sort of place very large! Not one I will rush back to!
The Captain says:
They haven’t been open very long at all. At least you got a free drink, well done. Far too many really good tapas bars for it to be a worry.
