The fire affecting the municipalities of Artà and Capdepera on the island of Mallorca was stabilised at around 18:00 on Wednesday evening and is expected to be totally under control at some point during Thursday.
People evacuated from the area as a precautionary measure have been allowed to return to their homes. The fire has affected 480 hectares of land, mostly scrub and grassland, but no buildings have been damaged and no-one has been injured.
The blaze began at 22:00 on Tuesday. Firefighters are now securing the perimeter of the fire and trying to cool various hot spots.
