A man and his 12-year-old daughter were found shot dead this morning at their home in avenida de Portugal in Cádiz.
The man, a retired soldier aged 56 years, was Chief of Psychiatry at the Military Hospital San Carlos in San Fernando. Neighbours raised the alarm after hearing a number of gunshots.
The deceased’s wife and mother of his daughter, who was in the house at the time of the shooting, is helping police to try and piece together the circumstances of the incident.
The main hypothesis being pursued by the police is that the man shot his daughter and then committed suicide. The other way round would be a little difficult. An autopsy will be carried out to determine the cause of death.
There was apparently no prior record of abuse within the family.
