Local resident Justo Márquez, who set off on Thursday on his 140 kilometre walk from Málaga to Gibraltar to call for an end to the conflict surrounding the Rock, arrived at his destination, complete with cross, on Sunday afternoon.
Justo Márquez spent two nights on the street during his journey. One night he was offered shelter in Mijas by a woman who had heard about his pilgrimage on the radio. In general terms, though, Márquez admitted that he had neither achieved his objectives in gaining support for his pilgrimage nor received any response by any religious body once he arrived at the border.
Márquez, a deeply religious man, has carried out similar actions in the past and is not dismayed, content in the knowledge that his protests are not offensive to anyone.
