Maro beach finished in second place in the Antena 3 competition to find the ‘best beach in Spain’.
The preliminary rounds of the competition began in June at a provincial level, with the top ten beaches then going through to the regional final held during July. In August, the regional winners progressed to the final, national stage of the competition.
Maro beach finished top of the Andalucia section with 6,000 votes. In the final stage it recorded 57,299 votes, just 3,000 votes behind the winner, La Granadella in Alicante. La Granadella also won the same competition last year.
In third place with 33,000 votes was Cala Macaralleta on the island of Minorca.
