The Ministry of Environment has awarded the contract to draft the project for the promenade at El Playazo to the company Iberport Consulting S.A., the current budget being €36,905 and the completion period eleven months from the date of signing the contract.
According to the mayor, José Alberto Armijo, the Department of Coasts has stated that the Council will have the final say on the exact configuration of the new promenade, described by the Mayor as an important step towards ‘an historic dream of the Council’.
The Council had requested the Ministry of Environment to start the process for drafting not only the promenade project, but also the expansion plans for the whole area which includes thousands of houses and a number of hotels.
Peter Wilkinson says:
LOOKING AROUND AT THE ESTATE AGENTS WINDOWS IN NERJA AND THE NUMBER OF REUCED PRICES WHO IS GOING TO BUY THESE THOUSANDS OF HOUSES AND WHO IN THE PRESENT FINANCIAL CLIMATE ARE GOING TO INVEST IN NEW HOTELS. IF WE DON´T HAVE A DECENT SEWAGE PLANT BUILT WHERE IS ALL THE INCREASED EXCRETEMENT GOING TO GO – INTO THE SEA AND BACK ONTO THE BEACHES. HOW ATTRACTIVE IS THAT TO PROSPECTIVE PURCHASERS. WAKE UP TO REALITY AND GET YOUR PRIORITIES RIGHT BEFORE YOU CONTEMPLATE PIE IN THE SKY SCHEMES CREATING A BLOT ON THE LANDSCAPE FOR YEARS TO COME.
Nigel says:
This contract is only to draft the project. It is one thing to produce plans, and quite another to actually build all of these houses and hotels. I may not see them in my lifetime.
