Forty-five illegal immigrants, including two babies and two pregnant women, have been intercepted in the Alborán Sea.
The boat carring the immigrants was spotted at 18:05 on Saturday evening by a plane participating in Guardia Civil manoeuvres about 60 miles south of Punta Sabinar on the limit of Spanish waters. A rescue vessel was sent to the area and the 45 passengers of the small, drifting boat were taken on board and transferred to Motril.
All the occupants were in apparent good health although the two pregnant women were transferred to hospital for a routine health check.
