Susana Diaz has become the first female president of the Junta de Andalucia, replacing José Antonio Griñan. She is set to announce her government on Monday or Tuesday.
In her speech in Parliament, Diaz stated that she wants to govern with ‘open windows’, represent all Andalucians, resolve the crisis in the region and will be relentless in the fight against corruption.
So, basically the same ideals put forward by every politician in the world seeking office since mankind first evolved. Will she be the first to deliver or will ‘the party’ inevitably cage the lioness? Only time will tell and we can but hope, as ever, but historical precedent is not on her side.
