The municipality of Castillejos, Granada, has requested assistance from the provincial government after a hillside collapsed on Sunday evening, destroying one cave house and threatening two more.
The slide happened at around 23:30 on Sunday, completely destroying one cave house in its path. Two people from two other cave houses had to be evacuated and spent the night with relatives.
The slope in question is dotted with cave houses and the Council suggests building a barrier against further problems of this kind. The terrain is apparently very steep and the problem cannot not be resolved by merely shoring-up the slope.
One street in the town also had to be cordoned off.
