The minority PSOE government in Torrox has rejected the proposal by the Ministry of Justice to amend the Law on Judicial Organisation which would see the courts in Torrox disappear and be replaced by a central judiciary in Málaga city.
The mayor, Francisco Muñoz, is proposing to submit a ‘rejection motion’ to the rest of the parties in the municipality.
The mayor stresses the historical importance of the Judicial District of Torrox , upon which other municipalities in the eastern part of the Axarquia currently depend, and relocating the courts to Málaga would cause difficulty of access for the people of the town and area.
The mayor added that the proposed move could also have a negative effect on those working in the legal profession as well as those related to the administration of justice.
