Water bills in Huelva are set to rise by 4.1% as from January 2014, the fourth increase in the rates since 2011.
In total the water bills will have risen by 29.2% in the past four years and the new rates will affect around 45,000 households in the capital.
According to the Council, this increase will go towards, amongst other things, a social fund created by the water concessionaire to help the needy to pay their bills.
The rise could probably be significantly less, or even zero, if they solely helped the needy and cut out the ‘amongst other things’.
