According to the Council it has been a pretty uneventful summer season on the beaches of the municipality as far as incidents are concerned, which is a good thing.
The green flags flew for 50% of the time during the summer season, yellow flags for 36% and red flags for only 16% of the time.
There were a total of 183 injuries, the majority of them of a mild nature, with only two cases of fractures and eight relating to burns. Ten people needed to be rescued after getting into difficulty in the water and an ambulance was required on six occasions due to heat stroke, seizures or accidents.
This year there were apparently only 24 recorded incidents of jellyfish stings, a significantly lower figure than normal.
