Andalucia has enjoyed the best summer in its history as far as tourism is concerned, according to figure issued by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
There were 1.8 million travellers who visited Andalucia during August, accounting for 6.5 million overnight stays, with a strong showing in both domestic and international tourists.
The 6.5 million overnight stays in the hotels of Andalucia represent a 9.1% increase over the same period last year. The overall number of visitors to the region increased by 6.9% compared to 2012.
Of the 6.5 million overnight stays, 4.1 million related to people living in Spain and 2.4 million to people living abroad. Of the 1.8 million total visitors during August, 1.1 million related to domestic tourists and 0.7 million to international visitors.
In Spain as a whole there were 42 million overnight stays in hotels during the month of August, an increase of 3.9% over the same month in 2012.
