In Huelva and jaén, attempts continue to reduce the number of contracts offered to Moroccan workers for the fruit and berry harvests.
Huelva is to offer 2,000 contracts to Moroccan workers, one-third the number offered in 2011, in an attempt to give priority to Spanish workers. The harvests provide employment for around 75,000 people.
In Jaén, for the second consecutive year, the Immigration Forum has announced that there will be no call on immigrant labour for the olive harvest as there are sufficient unemployed and job seekers to cover the work.
