The Nerja goalkeeper is accused of hitting and grabbing the referee by the neck and the prosecution is requesting a €240 fine and €608 compensation for the injuries. This all happened in May 2012 during a match between Nerja and Huétor-Tájar.
The prosecution is asking for a sentence of 2 years and 2 months in prison for the goalkeeper as well as the fine and the compensation. The goalkeeper allegedly intentionally kicked the ball at the referee. He then ran towards him and punched him in the face and grabbed him by the neck.
The accused maintains that when the dispute started the ball wasn’t in play, and he was only complaining because the referee didn’t signal a foul and, as a result, he started insulting the referee who decided to show him a red card. It was at this point that he ran towards the referee and started hitting him.
The goalkeeper has already been suspended for four years by the football authorities.
