The municipal cleaning company LIMASA intends to introduce a Temporary Employment Regulation Expedient – ERTE – which will be applied as from January 1st 2014.
The action is as a result of the failure of negotiations relating to the implementation of austerity measures proposed by the company to achieve savings of €7.1 million during 2013 and 2014.
A reduction in working hours or salary formed part of the company proposal and this was rejected by the employees.
Following the announcement of the initiation of proceedings, the employees have seven days in which to inform their representatives in the negotiations. Then, by law, the company has fifteen days in which to convene the first meeting and from then, a further fifteen days in which to hold a further three meetings.
