Rincón de la Victoria Council has set a goal of having 50,000 people registered on the local census (padrón) by the year 2015, a figure which means they could have 25 Councillors rather than 21 as at present.
Achieving the goal also means more revenue from both the Regional and Central Government to fund health care, the police and other services.
The current population is around 43,000, but it is thought that as many as 20,000 residents in the municipality just have not registered on the padrón. The objective is to encourage these people to register – which is free and quite painless – in order to attain their target.
