Adventure cyclist Scot Scheffler, a 49-year-old Californian who began a solo trek in June which has seen him cover 5,000 kilometres through seven European countries, has had to abandon his venture after his bike was stolen in El Chorro, Málaga province.
The unpleasant incident marked the end of his great European tour, which has taken him along the fjords of Norway, the coast of Denmark, through Germany, England, France and finally to southern Spain where it all went pear-shaped.
Scot Scheffler has covered around 26,000 kilometres since he began his cycling adventures, which have taken in America, Tibet, Cambodia, Laos and India amongst others, but he has now had to abandon his great European Tour following the theft of his red and silver Trek 3900 cycle.
The theft occurred when the intrepid cyclist took time out to visit a cave at El Chorro. A vehicle apparently pulled up to where he had parked his cycle and that was the end of his bike and his European adventure.
Scheffler is now off to some other part of the world to continue his adventures.
