The Councillor for Environment, Nieves Atencia, has said that the Council is continuing its efforts to sort out the complaints from local residents relating to the quarrying at Cantarriján.
The Council is working towards installing wire mesh netting in the area where landslides regularly occur in order to stop the stones reaching the road or the properties of local residents.
One of the problems is that the quarrying, a private enterprise, has all the necessary permits from the Junta de Andalucia, which means that negotiation is the only means of persuading the relevant parties to adopt new safety measures.
