The Council has approved a draft project which will result in the reopening of a short, 200 metre stretch of the Paseo de los Carabineros.
The draft project will now be sent to the Department of Coasts for approval.
The draft has been prepared by municipal technicians and makes use of geotechnical studies on an area which was causing particular concern to the Department of Coasts. This apparently demonstrates the stability of the area in question.
The popular walkway was closed many years ago following a rockslide.
The stretch in question is the first section of the walkway from the Balcon de Europa and the new route will include two new viewpoints. The cost of the project is estimated at €148,000.
Larry Murphy says:
This is good news. I always enjoyed this walkway and it was popular with visitors.
