Guardia Civil officers in Mijas have arrested a 32-year-old German national, the subject of a number of international arrest warrants issued by the German authorities.
The man was living in Mijas and, along with his wife, ran a business specialising in the maintenance and installation of air conditioning units.
The man had been convicted in Germany as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of robbery with violence, intimidation, receiving stolen goods, misappropriation and various scams, the offences taking place between 2003 and 2005.
The man had been under surveillance and monitoring for five months as Guardia Civil officers tried to locate his place of residence. In July he had registered to participate in the Spanish Championships and International Open Hang Gliding competition but managed to elude capture, taking refuge in a residential area of Marbella.
The detainee has now been transferred to Madrid to await extradition to Germany.
