On December 6th 2013, 109 victims of the Franco regime discovered in a mass grave in Cazalla de la Sierra, Sevilla, will receive a dignified burial, 77 years after they were shot.
The municipal cemetery of Cazalla de la Sierra is the location of the remains of 109 people killed by the Franco forces and were exhumed from the mass grave by the Andalucian Association of Historical Memory and Justice through a collaboration agreement with the City and the Pablo de Olavide University.
The head of the archaeological team reported that the bodies showed signs of violent death and, as is quite common with mass graves, the bodies overlapped.
The exhumations took place at the request of relatives of a number of the victims. A mausoleum will be opened to house the remains.
