According to the Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, a total of 13,777 home owners in the municipality are eligible to receive a grant from the Málaga Provincial Government to lower their IBI (Rates) bill for next year.
To qualify for these grants the property must have an assessed value of less than €100,000 euros. In addition, the IBI receipt must be domiciled and the owner of the house must be registered as living in it and be up to date with their obligations to the Provincial Tax Office.
The taxpayer does not have to apply for the grant, which ranges from 10% to 50%. as the Provincial Tax Office (Patronato Provincial de Recaudación) will adjust the bills automatically once it determines that the property and owner meet the necessary requirements.
Nerja Council itself has frozen the IBI tax rates for 2014, although at the same time it has reintroduced the Waste Collection Tax.
