A total of 252 people have been arrested in Valencia in connection with their alleged involvement in a Social Security fraud valued at €8,815,601.25.
The fraud consisted of a network of shell companies set up for improper access to unemployment benefits and fraudulently obtaining authorizations to work in Spain aimed at foreign workers.
The fraud amounted to €8,815,601.25 , of which €4,691,613.97 correspond to the General Treasury of the Social Security and €4,123,987.28 to the State Public Employment Service..
The investigations identified shell companies that had supposedly made fraudulent Social Security requests for 1,701 people, of which 517 were some form of benefits and 91 were for foreigners to legalise their situation in Spain .
