Salvador Urdiales (PSOE) has been elected mayor of the small town of Alfarnate, replacing José María Ruiz Lizana who resigned on November 26th in order to move to Panama and start a family with his girlfriend.
Erdiales has been a Councillor in Alfarnate, population 1,300, since 2003 and until now was in charge of the departments of Agriculture and Environment.
The IU and PP councillors abstained during the leadership vote but with six of the nine councillors, the PSOE had no problem approving the motion.
