From the Nerja Donkey Sanctuary:
Nerja Donkey Sanctuary is in desperate need of funds. In the winter months the Sanctuary is always a bit quiet but this year has been the hardest yet. We just scraped through November with help from a campaign on Facebook and the website, and the wonderful donations of food made through horse1.
This month we need to pay:
- 250 euros to the Farrier for general maintenance and specialist work on a few of our animals that have on-going hoof problems.
- In order to feed our animals, we have a delivery of hay every 6 days. We will need another 5 deliveries this month. Each one costs 95 euros making a total of 475 euros.
- Our monthly rent for the Sanctuary site is 600 euros.
- We also need to de-worm all our equines. This costs around 120 euros
- Our equine dentist is coming on Thursday 19th December to treat our newest residents Poppy and The General. This will cost 120 euros.
- We also have an outstanding vet bill of 150 euros for treating Rosie.

Please donate 25 euros for each adoption and add any details (e.g. your email address or the email address of a loved one, plus the name of the animal you wish to adopt). We will then send you, or your loved one, an adoption certificate.
Alternatively, you can visit us at the Sanctuary with any donations. We also always welcome carrots, apples and stale bread to help supplement our animals’ diets.
