Three individuals aged between 34 years and 45 years have been arrested in Benalmádena on suspicion of carrying out several robberies with violence on local homes in the area.
The police investigation began in November after a man was attacked in a parking garage by three individuals who beat him, stole his valuables and the bound and gagged him and left him in his car.
The robbers then tried to break into his home but were surprised to find his wife at home and, when neighbours heard her cries for help and appeared on the scene, they beat a hasty retreat.
The police investigation led to the discovery of a married couple who had been attacked in a parking garage near their home and forced, at gunpoint, to open their safe. The thieves stole jewellery and other items and left their victims bound and gagged.
In addition, the thieves forced the couple to reveal security numbers for bank and credit cards and various sums were subsequently withdrawn from their accounts.
The alleged attackers were traced and a number of stolen items were recovered. The three individuals have been remanded in custody.
