Employees of CEIAN, the cooperative managing the nursery schools in Jaén, have called an indefinite strike as from today, Friday, in protest at unpaid wages from August through November.
Minimum staffing levels in the municipal nurseries ‘Pedro Expósito’, ‘Fuentezuelas’, ‘Cervantes’ and the Centro de Atención Infantil Temprana (CAIT) will consist of either a cook or cleaner and one or two technicians.
The dispute was referred to the reconciliation service SERCLA but no agreement was reached, due mainly to the fact that the City Council did not send any representatives.
This situation has occurred despite the pumping of billions of euros into regional, provincial and municipal coffers specifically for the payment of outstanding debts.
