Everything was ready for Christmas at the headquarters of the charity Caritas in La Chanca, Almeria, when thieves struck and stole 5,000 kilos of food destined for the needy in this area of high unemployment.
In addition to the food, the thieves stole computers, musical instruments and other items. The robbers forced one of the windows to enter the building and then took everything they could.
Volunteers are now working around the clock to try and salvage the situation in time for Christmas. This is not the first time thieves have targeted charitable organisations and stolen food destined for the more needy in society.
